Plastic Pollution
Have you ever thought what could happen if you don’t recycle your plastic? Will I know, Plastic could end up in other countries. We could try minimizing the use of plastic bags and use reusable bags like paper bags, cotton/Fabric bags.
We could try avoiding items that have Microbeads, like Makeup, Toothpaste, Body wash, Sunscreen, Facial scrubs and more skin cares. We could also try taking our own reusable bags to put our shoppings in.
Did you know that 8 million tons of plastic ends up in our oceans and it is bad for our friends beneath the waves, over 700 species have been reported eating plastic and being tangled in them. We could take action by cleaning up our beaches and making it more clean for our wildlife, it takes over 400 years to decompose plastic. In the UK the government has banned toiletries containing microbeads, but lots of other countries still use them.
Plastics that you think are being recycled are being shipped to places in Asia. Like China, Malaysia and Vietnam. But, China had already called to stop accepting the world's plastic. Now the world is shipping the plastic to other places like Malaysia and Vietnam. It’s pretty understandable for China to not accept the world's plastic because it’s not theirs, it is everyone else's. But they are not taking proper responsibility for it.
Plastics are dumped everywhere and also near the oceans the wind blows the rubbish into the ocean and sometimes it gets washed away but further away to the ocean. Plastics are made from natural materials such as cellulose, coal, natural gas, salt and crude oil through a polymerisation or polycondensation process.
Conclusion: Plastic pollution is destroying our environment especially our oceans and waterways. It is also hurting our sea animals, because the plastic breaks into small pieces and the turtles and fishes eat the plastic and we eat the fish which means we are also eating plastic.
